Rawalpindi’s historic Raja Bazaar has been given a remarkable new look after a comprehensive renovation project worth nearly Rs. 500 million, transforming one of the city’s busiest commercial areas into a modern, vehicle-free shopping destination while preserving its cultural heritage.
The redevelopment includes underground utility infrastructure, an upgraded drainage system, wide pedestrian walkways, restored historic buildings, landscaped public spaces, seating areas, and separate washrooms for men and women. The project is designed to create a cleaner, safer, and more accessible environment for shoppers, visitors, and local businesses.
With vehicles no longer allowed inside the main shopping area, the revamped Raja Bazaar is expected to offer a more comfortable and enjoyable shopping experience. The newly renovated market is set to officially welcome the public next week, marking a significant milestone in the modernization of one of Rawalpindi’s most iconic landmarks.
