Strawberry Moon To Light Up Sky Today, Visible Around the World Including Pakistan

Skywatchers in Pakistan and around the world can enjoy a beautiful sight tonight. The Strawberry Moon, June’s full moon, is shining brightly. It reached its peak on June 29, 2026, at around 7:57 p.m. Eastern Time (early morning of June 30 in Pakistan time). It will look full and bright on the nights of June 29 and 30.

Despite its sweet name, the Strawberry Moon is not pink or red. The name comes from Native American tribes, like the Algonquin people. They used it to mark the time when wild strawberries ripen and are ready for harvest in early summer. Other names include Berries Ripen Moon, Green Corn Moon, and Hot Moon.

This year, the Strawberry Moon is special because it is a “micro moon.” It happens when the moon is farther from Earth, making it look a bit smaller. But it still appears large and golden when it rises low on the horizon just after sunset. This effect, called the moon illusion, makes it seem bigger against trees and buildings.
