PMDC Approves 475 Additional MBBS Seats for Punjab Government Medical Colleges

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has approved an increase of 475 MBBS seats in Punjab’s government medical colleges, raising the total number of available MBBS seats from 3,476 to 3,951 ahead of the upcoming academic session.

Following this expansion, the overall capacity of Punjab’s public medical and dental colleges has increased to 4,241 seats, creating more opportunities for aspiring doctors and helping address the growing demand for medical education across the province.

The approval came after the Punjab Health Department submitted a formal request to expand admissions in response to the increasing number of qualified applicants seeking admission to government institutions.

The revised seat allocation will be implemented from the upcoming academic session, with government medical colleges across Punjab admitting students under the new quota.

Officials believe the increase will not only improve access to quality medical education but also contribute to strengthening the province’s future healthcare workforce by producing more qualified medical professionals to meet the country’s evolving healthcare needs.
