Power Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari has credited public cooperation with nighttime load management for helping reduce electricity costs for consumers in August 2026.
According to the minister, the measures helped bring the Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) for August down from Rs. 2.0851 to Rs. 1.73 per unit.
He said the reduction prevented an estimated additional burden of Rs. 10.6 billion on electricity consumers while also contributing to foreign exchange savings.
Leghari said domestic energy sources accounted for around 72% of total electricity generation during August, reducing dependence on more expensive imported coal and RLNG.
He added that coordination between the Power and Petroleum Divisions helped arrange additional domestic gas at a time when international RLNG prices were high.
The minister said better use of local energy resources helped limit pressure on electricity costs and avoid additional load shedding, while highlighting the importance of continued cooperation between consumers and government institutions.
