Pakistan has updated fuel prices under its newly introduced daily petroleum pricing mechanism, with revised rates taking effect from July 21.
According to the latest notification, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs. 0.35 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs. 315.80 per litre. In contrast, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has increased by Rs. 5.71 per litre, raising its new rate to Rs. 360.06 per litre.
The adjustment reflects fluctuations in international oil prices and other market factors under the government’s new pricing system, which allows fuel prices to be reviewed and revised on a daily basis instead of following the previous fortnightly schedule.
While the slight reduction in petrol offers limited relief to motorists, the increase in diesel prices is expected to have a greater impact on the transport, agriculture, and logistics sectors, as HSD is widely used by commercial vehicles, heavy machinery, and public transportation. The revised pricing mechanism aims to align domestic fuel prices more closely with changes in global petroleum markets.
