Islamabad Inspector General of Police Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry has directed authorities to immediately release containers carrying medicines, food items and other perishable goods to their owners.
The decision was taken during a meeting with representatives of the Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance, who raised concerns over the use of transport containers by police for maintaining law and order in the federal capital.
The transport representatives highlighted the difficulties faced by businesses and goods carriers due to the prolonged use of their containers.
The IGP also directed officials to ensure that container owners are paid rent for vehicles being used by the police.
Authorities said the measures are aimed at reducing difficulties for transporters and businesses while maintaining necessary security and public-order arrangements across Islamabad.
