Anum Uzair has created history by winning the women’s category of Pakistan’s first-ever 100km Galyat Mountain Trail Ultra Marathon. The race took place on 18 and 19 July 2026 in the beautiful Galyat mountains near Nathia Gali.
In various distances, about 400 runners from Pakistan and other nations participated. Athar Akhtar and Muzammil Shahzad shared first position among the men in the challenging 100-kilometer race. Anum Uzair won this historic tournament as the first female champion.
Anum is an experienced climber and trail runner. She showed great strength and determination in finishing the long and difficult mountain course. She dedicated her victory to Pakistani women, especially female athletes, and encouraged them to chase their dreams in adventure sports.
The race was part of the fifth edition of the Galyat Mountain Trail Race. The International Trail Running Association approves it. Runners faced steep climbs, changing weather and challenging trails through forests and high peaks.
Anum said she faced tough conditions including weather risks and wildlife but stayed focused. She plans to take on more hard expeditions and help put Pakistan on the map in international mountain sports. Her success is an inspiration for many young athletes across the country.
