The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is preparing to begin construction on two major underpasses in Islamabad next month as part of a broader effort to improve the city’s road infrastructure and reduce traffic congestion.
The planned projects include the Kashmir Chowk Underpass and the Faisal Mosque Underpass, both expected to ease traffic flow at some of the capital’s busiest intersections.
The announcement was made by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi during a high-level meeting to review ongoing development projects in Islamabad.
Alongside the underpass initiatives, he directed officials to establish Capital Emergency Services and set up four new emergency response centers to strengthen the city’s ability to respond to emergencies more efficiently.
The minister also emphasized the need to enhance the CDA’s revenue generation model to support future development projects and instructed authorities to ensure that the Expressway Service Road Project is completed within the scheduled timeline.
These initiatives reflect the government’s broader plan to modernize Islamabad’s infrastructure, improve public services, enhance traffic management, and provide residents with safer and more efficient transportation and emergency response systems.
