Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Air has expanded its international network to Pakistan with the arrival of its first flight at Islamabad International Airport on August 14.
The inaugural flight, RX-660, landed in Islamabad carrying 69 passengers and was welcomed with a traditional water salute at the airport. The new route will operate daily between Riyadh and Islamabad, giving passengers another direct travel option between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The launch is expected to benefit a wide range of travellers, including Pakistani workers based in Saudi Arabia, families visiting relatives, business passengers and pilgrims travelling between the two countries.
The airline is also preparing to expand its Pakistani operations. From August 18, Riyadh Air is scheduled to operate three flights each week between Riyadh and Lahore.
The addition of these routes will provide greater choice for passengers and further strengthen air links between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Better connectivity can also support business activity, family travel and movement between the two countries.
Riyadh Air’s entry into the Pakistani market marks a new development in bilateral aviation connectivity. With services now planned for Islamabad and Lahore, passengers in two major Pakistani cities will have access to additional direct connections with Riyadh.
