Pakistan’s IT sector has achieved a major milestone, with IT exports reaching a record $4.6 billion in FY2026, marking a 21% increase from $3.8 billion in the previous fiscal year.
Monthly exports also rose to $416 million in June, helping Pakistan surpass the government’s $4.5 billion annual target.
The growth has been driven by Pakistani technology companies expanding their presence across MENAP and European markets, creating new opportunities in software, digital services and IT outsourcing.
Under the Uraan Pakistan plan, the government aims to further increase IT exports to $10 billion by FY2029.
Despite the strong performance of the IT sector, local mobile phone assembly recorded a decline, with around 1.93 million units produced in June.
The record IT exports nevertheless highlight the growing role of technology in Pakistan’s economy and its potential to strengthen foreign exchange earnings and create new digital opportunities.
