33 Retired Pakistani Officials Living Abroad Receive Pensions in Foreign Currency

As many as 33 retired senior Pakistani officials living abroad are reportedly receiving pensions in foreign currency, placing an additional burden on the country’s finances.

According to the reported figures, the government is spending around Rs. 342.1 million annually on pensions for these officials. Some recipients are reportedly paid partly in foreign currency and partly in Pakistani rupees.

The payments have raised concerns over the financial impact of overseas pensions, particularly at a time when Pakistan continues to face pressure on its foreign exchange reserves and public finances.

The issue has also sparked questions about the rules governing pension payments to retired officials residing outside the country.
