South Air has taken a major progressive step for domestic travel in Pakistan. The airline recently received approval to operate flights on the Peshawar-Lahore and Peshawar-Quetta routes. It is also restoring direct air connectivity between Islamabad and Multan after the route remained without regular direct flights following the suspension of previous services.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi welcomed the approvals. He thanked the Civil Aviation Authority and South Air for responding to requests for better air services from Peshawar. The governor said the flights will make travel easier for people in the province and support trade, tourism and regional connections. He added that South Air plans to start operations from Dera Ismail Khan and Chitral airports once it adds more aircraft to its fleet.
South Air, a relatively new carrier focused on regional routes, already links several cities across Pakistan. The addition of Islamabad-Multan and Peshawar-Lahore services fills important gaps. These routes should reduce travel time for families, business travellers and students who previously relied mainly on buses and trains.
