The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has directed Ufone, Jazz and Zong to ensure that prepaid customers receive at least 180 days of balance validity with every recharge, effective October 1.
Under the new directive, any balance that expires due to the validity period must be automatically restored and made available for use when the customer recharges their account again.
This move is intended to prevent prepaid users from losing unused credit simply because the validity period has ended.
The regulator said the decision comes in response to consumer complaints and instructed telecom operators to avoid unfair practices while implementing the policy.
With around 97% of Pakistan’s mobile subscribers using prepaid connections, the measure could provide greater protection and flexibility to millions of users nationwide.
