Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq has come under criticism after missing the batting innings during the second Test against England at Lord’s. Former Pakistan chief selector Mohammad Wasim accused the batter of faking injuries, raising questions about his absence at a difficult stage for Pakistan.
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially confirmed that Imam suffered a low-grade strain in his left calf while fielding on the first day of the Test. Scans later confirmed the injury, and he has been receiving treatment from the team’s medical staff.
The injury kept Imam out of Pakistan’s first innings, where the team was dismissed for just 110 runs. He was also considered doubtful for the rest of the Test as he needed time to recover.
Wasim’s comments have sparked debate among cricket fans, but there is currently no official evidence that Imam faked his injury. The PCB’s medical assessment supports the claim that he suffered a calf strain.
