Najmun Nahar Makes History as First Bangladeshi & Muslim Woman to Travel to 185 Countries

Bangladeshi adventurer Najmun Nahar has reached an impressive milestone by visiting 185 countries, becoming the first Bangladeshi and the first Muslim woman to achieve this feat, according to recent reports.

Nahar completed her 185th country visit in Bhutan on August 7, 2026. Her journey has taken 26 years, during which she has carried Bangladesh’s red and green flag to more than 1,294 locations worldwide.

She began her international travel journey in 2000 with a visit to India. She reached her 100th country, Zimbabwe, in 2018 and later crossed 150 countries after visiting São Tomé and Príncipe in 2021. Her 175th country was Vanuatu in 2024, followed by the Bahamas as her 184th country in 2025.

Beyond travelling, Nahar has promoted Bangladesh’s culture and history and spoken about peace, environmental protection and women’s empowerment. She has also visited schools and universities around the world to encourage young people to follow their goals with courage and determination.
