Pakistan has sent 100 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Nepal to support people affected by the country’s recent floods and landslides. A chartered cargo flight carrying the relief supplies left Islamabad for Kathmandu on September 6.
The aid was sent on the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and was coordinated by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The shipment includes family tents, blankets, mats, hygiene kits and essential medicines. These supplies are expected to help families who have lost homes and basic necessities in the disaster.
A send-off ceremony was held at Islamabad International Airport. Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Nepal’s ambassador and other officials attended the event.
The floods and landslides have caused widespread destruction in Nepal, with more than 1,300 people reported dead and thousands still missing. Pakistan said the aid reflects its support for Nepal during the difficult situation.
