Former Islamabad Police Chief Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has been appointed as the new Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
Rizvi’s appointment comes as Pakistan continues to expand its efforts to address cybercrime and other offenses involving digital platforms and technology.
The NCCIA is responsible for investigating cyber-related cases, including online fraud, digital harassment and other technology-based crimes. As its new head, Rizvi will oversee the agency’s investigations and operations in the cybercrime sector.
Rizvi brings extensive law enforcement and policing experience to the position. His previous experience in policing is expected to support the agency as it deals with the growing number and complexity of crimes committed through digital platforms.
Pakistan has been placing greater focus on digital security as internet and technology use continues to expand across the country. The increasing use of online financial services, social media and digital communication has also created new challenges for law enforcement agencies.
Under Rizvi’s leadership, the NCCIA is expected to continue strengthening its investigative capacity and response to cyber-related complaints.
His appointment comes at a time when effective enforcement against digital crimes has become increasingly important, with authorities working to improve public safety and security in Pakistan’s rapidly developing digital environment.
