The government has expanded the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme to cover more older vehicles, allowing owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws that are up to 20 years old to register for the programme.
Under the expanded eligibility criteria, motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws registered on or after January 1, 2006, can now qualify for fuel relief.
The decision is expected to extend the scheme to a larger number of vehicle owners who continue to face higher transportation and fuel-related expenses.
The inclusion of older vehicles is aimed at providing additional support to people who rely on motorcycles and rickshaws for daily commuting, small businesses and income-generating activities. These vehicles are widely used for affordable transportation across different parts of Pakistan.
Owners of eligible vehicles can now seek registration under the revised scheme, subject to the government’s applicable verification and registration requirements.
The expansion reflects the government’s broader effort to extend fuel-related assistance to more people amid ongoing pressure from fuel prices.
By increasing the age limit for eligible vehicles, the government has widened the potential reach of the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme and included more motorcycle and rickshaw owners in the support programme.
