Pakistan has announced a slight reduction in fuel prices, offering limited relief to consumers as petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) rates have been revised downward.
Under the latest adjustment, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs. 1.65 per litre, bringing it down to Rs. 389.14 per litre. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has decreased by Rs. 0.88 per litre, with the new rate set at Rs. 424.04 per litre.
The revised prices will remain in effect from September 19 to September 21, 2026, according to the announced schedule.
The Petroleum Division said the adjustment was made after taking several factors into account, including movements in international oil prices, Platts rates, petroleum premiums, and other related costs. These factors are regularly reviewed when determining domestic fuel prices.
The reduction comes at a time when global crude oil markets have been responding to changing concerns surrounding potential disruptions to oil supplies from the Middle East. A decline in international crude prices provided some room for Pakistan to reduce domestic fuel rates, although the decrease remains relatively modest.
Petrol and diesel prices have a direct impact on transportation costs and household expenses in Pakistan, while also influencing the prices of goods and services across different sectors.
The latest reduction is therefore expected to provide some limited relief to motorists and businesses using petroleum products.
The government will continue to monitor international oil prices and other pricing components as it determines future fuel rates.
