The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has introduced a new $200,000 (approximately PKR 5.6 crore) HBL PSL Cricket Development Excellence Award to recognise the franchise that makes the strongest overall contribution to the development of cricket.
The award will focus on the long-term efforts made by PSL franchises to strengthen the sport beyond the playing field.
The assessment will consider areas including player development, high-performance facilities and infrastructure, grassroots cricket programmes, involvement in domestic cricket, player welfare, and education initiatives.
For the 2026 award, franchises will be assessed on their development work carried out from PSL 3 through PSL 11, allowing the PCB to evaluate their contributions over an extended period rather than focusing only on a single season.
The scoring process will give 80% weightage to franchise self-assessments and verification by a designated committee, while the remaining 20% will be based on fan voting. The PCB is expected to announce further details about the voting process at a later stage.
Through the award, the PCB aims to recognise franchises that invest in building a stronger cricketing ecosystem, supporting emerging players and creating opportunities that can contribute to the future growth of cricket in Pakistan.
