Burns Road in Karachi is set to undergo a major transformation aimed at turning the historic area into a modern, well-organised and attractive food street, Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah has said.
During a visit to the historic Karachi locality, Shah reviewed the progress of ongoing road construction, rehabilitation, development and beautification projects. He directed the relevant authorities to accelerate the work while ensuring that construction standards and quality are properly maintained.
The chief secretary also called for improvements to roads, civic facilities and the overall environment of the area.
At the same time, he stressed the importance of preserving Burns Road’s historical and cultural character so that its traditional identity remains intact during the development process.
Shah also reviewed the issue of encroachments in the area and instructed the authorities to take coordinated action against them.
The directions are aimed at creating a cleaner, more organised and accessible environment for residents, visitors and businesses.
The planned development seeks to improve Burns Road’s infrastructure and appearance while maintaining the distinctive character that has made the area one of Karachi’s well-known food and cultural destinations.
