Pakistan batter Mohammad Farooq has created history in domestic cricket with a remarkable display of power-hitting during the President’s Trophy Grade I match against Khan Research Laboratories.
The 23-year-old batter smashed an outstanding 163 runs from just 99 deliveries, producing 14 sixes and 11 fours during his explosive innings. Farooq reached his century in only 67 balls, showcasing an aggressive approach throughout his time at the crease.
His 14 sixes also saw him surpass a long-standing domestic first-class record. Farooq moved past Majid Khan’s record of 13 sixes in a first-class innings, which had stood for 59 years after being set in 1967.
Farooq’s powerful innings played a major role in helping his team reach 476/4 at stumps, putting them in a strong position in the match.
The young batter’s performance also continued an impressive run of form. In his previous match, Farooq scored an unbeaten 107, meaning he has now registered centuries in consecutive games.
With another century and a new first-class record for sixes in an innings, Farooq has produced one of the standout batting performances of the President’s Trophy Grade I campaign.
