Authorities have announced the closure of 24 educational institutions in Islamabad from Tuesday as additional police personnel are brought in for security arrangements ahead of planned protests and marches.
The affected schools are located in several areas, including G-6, F-6 and G-7. Selected educational institutions in Trinol, Sanjani, Sihala, Narra and the Rawal Dam area will also remain closed during the security preparations.
However, schools outside the designated areas will continue their regular operations, according to the reported arrangements.
In a related development, Rawalpindi Police have requested the closure of 38 additional educational institutions to accommodate personnel expected to arrive from different parts of Punjab.
Around 15,000 additional police officers are reportedly scheduled to be deployed across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The deployment is intended to support security measures and maintain law and order during the planned demonstrations.
The use of educational institutions to accommodate security personnel could affect students and staff in the selected areas. Authorities have therefore identified specific schools for closure while allowing other institutions to continue functioning.
The arrangements come as the capital region prepares for possible protests and marches, with law enforcement agencies increasing their presence in both cities.
