Pakistan has signed a drone related agreement with US based defence company Powerus, which also has a separate agreement with an Indian defence company. The development has drawn attention because the two South Asian countries are now linked to the same US drone technology supplier.
Powerus signed a memorandum of understanding with the Pakistan Army in September, along with an initial order for unmanned aerial systems. The company has not disclosed the order’s value, specifications or exact number of systems, citing security and confidentiality concerns.
In June, Powerus entered an agreement with India’s Paras Defence and Space Technologies. The deal gives Paras exclusive rights to manufacture and sell Powerus’ Guardian 1 interceptor system in India. The system is designed to counter aerial threats, including attack drones. However, available reports say India has not yet placed an order for the system.
Powerus is also expected to merge with Aureus Greenway Holdings, which has investments linked to US President Donald Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump. The companies expect the merger to be completed in early October.
