Virat Kohli has confirmed that the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will be his last World Cup for India. The former India captain made the announcement while speaking to broadcaster JioStar ahead of India’s ODI series against the West Indies.
Kohli said the 50-over World Cup brings a different challenge because players must maintain high intensity across a long tournament. He said his main motivation is to give everything for India and try to win the trophy in what will be his final World Cup campaign.
The 2027 World Cup will be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Kohli, who is 37, now plays only ODI cricket for India after retiring from T20 internationals in 2024 and Test cricket in 2025.
Kohli has played in four World Cups and was part of India’s 2011 title-winning team. He currently holds the record for the most ODI centuries, with 54.
