The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has traced a 17-year-old boy in Karachi after an AI company flagged chats in which he allegedly discussed plans to kill a police officer’s son.
According to investigators, the teenager had told an AI chatbot that he wanted to target the son of a police officer who had allegedly insulted his father. The case was reportedly detected after Anthropic’s Claude flagged the conversation and shared information with the FBI, which then passed it to Pakistani authorities.
Investigators said the boy had discussed a detailed plan involving sedatives and disposal of the victim’s body. He also reportedly said he was influenced by the television crime series Dexter and compared his intended actions with its main character.
The NCCIA later traced the teenager in Karachi. During questioning, however, he denied planning an actual murder and said he had discussed the scenario for a story. His father also denied that the boy was involved in criminal activity.
