The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns for Tax Year 2026 from September 30 to October 15, 2026, providing taxpayers with additional time to complete and submit their returns.
The extension comes after requests from various trade bodies and tax bar associations, which had urged the tax authority to provide more time for taxpayers facing difficulties in completing the filing process before the original deadline.
Under the revised schedule, taxpayers who were required to submit their income tax returns by September 30 will now have until October 15, 2026 to fulfill their filing obligations.
The additional two weeks are expected to give individuals, businesses and other taxpayers more time to gather the required financial information, complete their tax documentation and submit returns through the relevant FBR systems.
Taxpayers have been advised to use the extended period to complete their filings and avoid leaving submissions until the final days of the new deadline.
