Lahore Traffic Police issued more than 10,000 challans against smoke-emitting vehicles during September as part of an intensified campaign to reduce air pollution and prepare for the upcoming smog season.
According to the traffic police spokesperson, enforcement against vehicles emitting excessive smoke increased by 215% compared with August and recorded a significant 1,149% rise compared with January.
Authorities are continuing checks at Lahore’s entry and exit points while conducting special inspections of commercial vehicles.
Relevant SPs and DSPs are supervising the operations as officials strengthen measures to control vehicular emissions and improve air quality across the city.
