66,000 Pakistanis Leave Country in Just Two Months

More than 66,000 Pakistanis travelled abroad for employment during July and August 2026, reflecting the continued interest of Pakistani workers in overseas job markets and the growing role of international employment in providing income opportunities for families across the country.

According to official figures, 39,159 Pakistani workers left the country for employment in July, while another 27,656 travelled abroad in August.

The August figure was 11,503 lower than the previous month, indicating a month-on-month decline in the number of workers departing for overseas jobs.

Despite the decrease, the combined figure for the first two months of the financial year highlights the sustained demand for Pakistani labour in international markets.

Alongside overseas employment, the government is also pursuing measures aimed at creating more opportunities within Pakistan.

These include interest-free financing schemes for small businesses and self-employment, designed to help individuals establish or expand their own sources of income.

Housing and agricultural financing initiatives are also being promoted to support economic activity, entrepreneurship and livelihoods across different sectors.

The continued movement of workers abroad, coupled with efforts to expand domestic financing opportunities, reflects the importance of both overseas employment and local entrepreneurship in Pakistan’s broader employment and economic landscape.

While foreign jobs remain an important source of income and remittances, increased access to affordable financing could provide more people with opportunities to build sustainable businesses and livelihoods within the country.
