Only three out of 1,024 candidates have passed the written examination held for the recruitment of civil judges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, leaving most of the 105 advertised positions without qualified candidates.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC) announced the results on September 30, 2026. The posts were advertised by the Peshawar High Court in April. A total of 3,097 applications were received, while 1,024 candidates appeared in the written examination.
The three candidates who qualified are Saba Rasool from South Waziristan, Abdullah Noor from Bajaur, and Syed Zahid Hussain from Mardan. The results showed major differences in performance across subjects. Only 149 candidates passed the English General and English Essay papers, while 687 out of 1,005 candidates failed General Knowledge. In contrast, 803 candidates passed Criminal Law and 775 passed the Qanun-e-Shahadat and Pleadings paper.
The results have raised concerns among lawyers in the province. The KP Bar Council called for a review of the examination and questioned the recruitment process and marking standards.
The Peshawar High Court Bar Association has also approached the Peshawar High Court, seeking access to examination records and a review of the results.
