Islamabad authorities have launched an operation to remove more than 1,200 containers placed across the federal capital after 24 days of road restrictions.
The Inspector General of Islamabad Police has directed officials to ensure that all containers are removed from major roads by this evening to restore normal traffic flow.
The containers had been placed at key entry points, highways and the Red Zone ahead of the anticipated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march.
Their removal is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve movement across the city and bring relief to commuters and residents affected by weeks of road closures and travel disruptions.
