The Pakistan Army has successfully tested the extended-range version of its Fatah-2 hypersonic ballistic missile, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), announced on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
According to ISPR, the Fatah-2 Extended Range (ER) is equipped with advanced navigation systems and modern electronic equipment designed to guide the missile during flight. The military said the weapon can strike targets accurately and is designed to overcome enemy missile defence systems through its flight path and ability to change direction.
The extended range is expected to increase the army’s ability to reach targets located farther away. However, the military did not publicly disclose the missile’s exact range or other technical details in its announcement.
The test was witnessed by the commander of the Army Rocket Force Command, senior army officers, scientists and engineers involved in the programme.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, and the services chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on the successful test, ISPR said.
The development follows Pakistan’s recent test of an extended-range Fatah-IV cruise missile.
