CM Punjab Orders to Pay Rs 14.5 Billion to Mosque Imams

The Punjab government is continuing its efforts to provide regular financial assistance to mosque imams through a province-wide honorarium initiative. The programme aims to support religious leaders by offering them a fixed financial benefit.

Under the Chief Minister’s Imam Masjid Sahibaan Honorarium Programme, the provincial government has distributed Rs14.5 billion among mosque imams. The Home Department has also completed registrations for more than 76,000 mosques across Punjab, reflecting the scale of the initiative.

Provincial Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said the government was allocating more than Rs20 billion annually to fund the scheme. The programme is part of the provincial administration’s efforts to provide financial support to imams serving communities across the province.

Officials have also advised registered imams to keep their bank accounts active to ensure the timely receipt of payments. Beneficiaries must carry out at least one transaction through their accounts every three months to prevent interruptions in their honorarium.

The government’s instructions highlight the importance of maintaining active banking records for the smooth continuation of financial assistance under the programme.
