British-Pakistani racer Enaam Ahmed secures Ferrari academy place for protégé

British-Pakistani racing driver and motorsport entrepreneur Enaam Ahmed has arranged a Ferrari Driver Academy place for his protégé Daniel Miron Lorente, following a year spent managing and coaching the young racer.

From karting success to Ferrari’s academy

Lorente has worked with Ahmed through his driver development programme over the past 12 months. Ahmed negotiated the Ferrari agreement after overseeing that period of training and development.

Their partnership has already delivered a title in this year’s Champions of the Future series. The international karting competition brings together young racers from across the world.

A longer-term Formula 1 ambition

Ferrari’s academy helps promising drivers develop for advancement through international motorsport, including the route towards Formula 1. For Lorente, the agreement provides the next stage in that progression.

Ahmed’s longer-term aim is to guide Lorente through the racing ranks and towards a possible opportunity to compete for a Ferrari Formula 1 seat. That remains an ambition rather than an outcome guaranteed by the academy place.

Ahmed builds on his own racing career

Ahmed has represented both Pakistan and Britain in international racing. He became Pakistan’s first world karting champion before going on to claim the British Formula 3 Championship.

His British Formula 3 record also includes 13 wins in one season, exceeding a previous mark set by Ayrton Senna. The agreement for Lorente adds another milestone to Ahmed’s move from competing himself to developing and managing other drivers.
