Goodbye Honda, Suzuki? Italian Brand to Launch Locally Assembled Bikes in Pakistan

Buraq Automobile plans to assemble high-displacement Italian and Chinese motorcycles in Pakistan, with its first Moto Morini model potentially costing about 23% less than the imported version. CEO Mobeen Ahmed expects the assembly facility to be ready by December, ahead of production beginning in January 2027.

Moto Morini to launch the assembly programme

The company currently brings Benelli, Moto Morini and QJMOTOR motorcycles into Pakistan for distribution. Moto Morini is set to be the first brand in its local assembly programme, while another international brand is also planned but has not been named.

The initial Moto Morini rollout is planned in this order:

  1. The Alltrhike 450 adventure motorcycle.
  2. A 300cc model to follow.

A tentative price below Rs. 20 lakh

Ahmed put the Alltrhike 450’s possible locally assembled price at Rs. 19.95 lakh, compared with Rs. 26 lakh for a fully imported motorcycle. That would represent a reduction of approximately 23%, with lower import duties making the saving possible.

Further reductions would depend on government approval of a proposed auto policy that would cut duties on completely knocked-down (CKD) motorcycle kits. Ahmed said any additional duty savings would be passed on to customers.

EFI motorcycles are also planned

Buraq Automobile also intends to offer locally assembled motorcycles equipped with electronic fuel injection (EFI). Ahmed expects better fuel economy, acceleration and power to appeal to buyers, despite the limited availability of EFI repair facilities in Pakistan.
