Pakistan logs over 4.4 million tourist-visa arrivals, with Afghans the largest group

Pakistan recorded more than 4.4 million arrivals on tourist visas across 2024 and 2025, according to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) figures. Afghan nationals formed the largest group over the two years, followed by visitors from the United Kingdom and the United States.

Annual arrivals rise, but country trends differ

The annual total increased from roughly 2.183 million in 2024 to approximately 2.29 million in 2025. That overall rise came despite lower arrivals from Afghanistan and the United States in the second year.

Afghan nationals accounted for 1,216,873 tourist-visa arrivals during the reporting period. Their annual figure fell from around 641,000 in 2024 to about 575,000 in 2025.

UK ranks second, followed by the US

Visitors from the United Kingdom accounted for approximately 1.017 million arrivals across the two years, placing them second. Unlike the Afghan figures, UK arrivals increased, from around 503,000 in 2024 to about 514,000 in 2025.

The United States ranked third with 509,947 arrivals over the same period. Its annual count declined from approximately 261,000 in 2024 to around 248,000 in 2025.

The FIA report also listed two-year tourist-visa arrival totals for several other countries:

  • Iran: 259,720 arrivals
  • Canada: 234,129 arrivals
  • China: 159,688 arrivals
  • Australia: 117,732 arrivals

What the figures cover

The FIA compiled the report using its Integrated Border Management System, which records cross-border movements. The totals refer specifically to arrivals made on tourist visas.

Entries under other visa categories are not included in these figures. The more than 4.4 million arrivals therefore should not be read as Pakistan’s total count of foreign visitors entering for all purposes during 2024 and 2025.
