Fakhar Zaman matches Saeed Anwar’s finals record as he passes 4,000 ODI runs

Fakhar Zaman reached 4,000 ODI runs and drew level with Saeed Anwar’s tally of two centuries in ODI tournament finals after scoring 127 against Sri Lanka in the tri-nation series decider at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

A century that delivered two milestones

The Pakistan opener struck 11 fours and six sixes in his 99-ball innings, registering the 12th hundred of his ODI career. He also became the 16th Pakistani batter to reach the 4,000-run mark.

That milestone puts him on a list featuring Inzamam-ul-Haq, Javed Miandad, Younis Khan and Anwar. His career total now stands at 4,019 runs from 96 ODI innings.

Joining Anwar with two hundreds in finals

The innings against Sri Lanka was Zaman’s second century in an ODI tournament final. His first came against India in the 2017 Champions Trophy decider at The Oval in London.

Anwar, the former Pakistan captain and opener, also scored two hundreds in ODI tournament finals:

  • Against Sri Lanka in the 1993 Wills Trophy final.
  • Against India in the 1998 Silver Jubilee Independence Cup final.

Zaman’s ODI record

Across his 96 ODI innings, Zaman has a batting average of 44.65 and a strike rate of 93.57. Alongside his 12 centuries, he has made 19 half-centuries.
