The English football star Michael Owen, has agreed to serve as the Pakistan Football League’s official ambassador for a period of three years. He will assume charge of Pakistani football for the development of a strategic partnership programme by combining the country with the strength of English football.
Owen’s job includes establishing a global professional gateway for a new generation of Pakistani football players who can adapt to the current game. He will be bringing a successful model already established in his country.
In October, he will reveal the PFL logo. The former footballer will travel to Pakistan to conduct a series of master workshops and officially launch the PFL. Its schedule has yet to be revealed.
The new franchise teams will be for the cities of Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Multan, and will usher in a new era of football that will be in accordance with international standards, according to a press release from the UK’s sports equity fund Global Soccer Ventures (GSV).
