Government workers’ demonstrations have been successful in moving the federal government to consider raising their wages and pensions.
The conference, which will be attended by the Minister of the Interior, the Minister for Defence, the Secretary of Finance, the Secretary of the Interior and other officials concerned, will be chaired by Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.
The requests of All Pakistan Secretariat Employees Coordination Council (APSECC), the All Pakistan Clerk Association (APCA), and other protesting groups will be addressed by the participants.
The meeting is expected to end with decisions to raise wages and pensions in the next budget and to offer temporary relief to workers in the face of inflation. No ultimate decision on the matter has been taken so far.
