Govt bans pharmaceutical companies from giving gifts, sponsoring foreign tours for doctors.

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has released a new code of conduct that prohibits pharmaceutical corporations from presenting gifts, cash, or hospitality to doctors.

While the incumbent authorities are working on a uniform marketing practises code, the drug regulatory authority has issued a new code of conduct for pharmaceutical companies and general practitioners, which states that pharmaceutical companies will not cover the travel expenses of doctors’ families and other members.

Medical practitioners will not be reimbursed for the costs of international travel unless they have received a No Objection Certificate from their particular institution, according to the notice.
