Smog and air pollution are a severe problem in Punjab, particularly in Lahore. Authorities are doing everything they can to improve traffic flow in the province.
Following a restriction on Euro-2 gasoline and a Rs. 2,000 fine for violating one-way traffic rules, Punjab Transport Company (PTC) is launching yet another anti-smog campaign, this time targeting large smoke-emitting vehicles.
So far, the PTC Enforcement Wing has taken action against 9,747 public transportation vehicles for breaking environmental rules.
However, 2005 automobiles were confiscated and brought to a police station nearby. Warnings have been given to 19,38 automobiles.
The violating drivers have been fined Rs. 2.19 million by the police.
