Fakhar Imam, the Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research (NFS&R), has stated that the country’s record rice production of nine million tonnes this year has enabled it to earn $4.75 billion in exports.
He told a news conference in Islamabad that both the government and the private sector would have to work together to realise this export potential.
According to Fakhar Imam, we have also proposed that a committee be constituted under the presidency of Prime Minister Imran Khan to monitor and boost rice exports.
Pakistan mostly exports rice to China, Kenya, the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, and Afghanistan, according to him.
He added that we might also look into other African and Latin American markets for export.
