Govt to Ban all Cars without AirBags: Report

The federal cabinet has recently approved the Automotive Industry Development and Export Plan (AIDEP) 2021-2026, which will safeguard Pakistan’s automotive industry’s safety and development.

The World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), which is already followed by 64 countries, contains provisions (for vehicles, their parts, systems, and equipment) related to safety and environmental aspects, including performance-oriented test requirements and administrative procedures.

From June 30, 2022, all automobiles must comply with the WP.29 set of safety rules, or car manufactures will be prohibited from selling them.
