KPK Becomes First Province to Offer Free Healthcare Facility

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkwa, Mahmood Khan on Sunday said that with the extension of the Sehat Card Plus system, the entire population of the province is beginning to receive free health facilities.

Mahmood Khan said, “With tomorrow’s launch of Sehat Card in southern districts, we will become first province to have universal coverage of health insurance for 100 percent population.”

He said that free health facilities, as envisioned by Prime Minister Imran Khan, were a significant step towards achieving the dream of a welfare state on the Riasat-e-Madina model.

The Sehat Card Plus system will significantly benefit over 6.5 million families and 40 million residents of Khyber Pakhtunkwa if executed by the Health Department in the province.

The Chief Minister said that the first phase of the scheme had already been extended to merged districts.

He said that kidney and liver donation facilities were also included in the scheme to support the deserving families at large under his directives.

He further said that under Sehat Card Plus, all provincial residents will earn up to Rs1 million in free health facilities.
