Ricky Ponting has recently praised two of Pakistan’s 2021 ICC Awards winners, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Babar Azam. He stated that their ability and form set up a “mouth-watering” series when Australia tours Pakistan in March, 2022.
Ponting further expressed his thoughts on what made them stand out two years ago and their progress as players since then, after watching them attentively when Pakistan toured Australia in 2019.
Shaheen Afridi was recently named the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year winner, while Babar Azam was named the ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year winner.
In 2021, both Azam and Afridi were at the top of their game, contributing significantly in Pakistan’s sensational run into the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
