According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs) missed SMS and Voice Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and were determined to be below the licencing threshold. The PTA gave operators instructions to take corrective action in order to improve service quality in accordance with license standards.
In Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, PTA conducted an impartial Quality of Service (QoS) survey in 18 cities and nine freeways, highways, and intercity roads to assess the performance and quality of services provided by Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs).
As per PTA survey, Zong ranked top as the best mobile network of Pakistan, followed by Telenor at 2nd place, Jazz 3rd place and Ufone at the 4th place.
Using a state-of-the-art automated QoS Monitoring and Benchmarking technology, the licensed KPIs of voice, network coverage, SMS, and mobile broadband/data were verified during the survey.
The survey routes chosen by the driving test teams covered key roads, service roads, and the bulk of sectors in the surveyed areas. CMOs have been ranked from 1st to 4th in Mobile Network Coverage and Voice Services as per compliance level in surveyed cities and motorways and highways, based on the level of compliance of each KPI against the threshold set in the appropriate licenses and QoS Regulations.
In the same way, the highest data download speed determines the ranking in the mobile broadband speed group.
