Police to use drones to trace kite flyers in Rawalpindi.

All means will be used to enforce the government’s prohibition on illegal kite flying in Rawalpindi, including the deployment of 1,600 police officers and the use of drones for monitoring and identifying lawbreakers.

Drones will be deployed to get a bird’s eye view of the suspicious area and will help detect and locate kite flyers.

According to Dawn News, a systematic plan to monitor kite flying has been established, with special police squads assigned to crack down on kite fliers as well as those involved in aerial firing.

During an intensive campaign against kite flyers, police arrested 690 people (kite flyers and dealers) for violating the ban and recovered over 97,000 kites.

As part of the campaign against kite flying and aerial fire, police have issued warnings from mosques and through mobile police units to educate people about the hazards of kite flying and aerial fire.
