As per recent news, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced a Rs. 407 billion interest-free loan programme in order to help Pakistan’s lower-income groups and reduce their reliance on the government.
According to a report by Radio Pakistan, under the prime minister’s Kamyab Jawan Program, a flagship poverty alleviation scheme, the government plans to disburse loans to youth, women, and farmers, as well as for the construction of low-income housing, during the next two years.
“We have included 4.5 million families in the Kamyab Jawan Program,” Prime Minister Imran Khan stated in a televised address at the Faisal Mosque in Islamabad.
He further added, “We began in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Now we’re bringing this initiative to the rest of the country.”
Khan also said that Pakistani banks have given lower-income groups loans of up to Rs. 55 billion, which was unprecedented in the country’s history.
