Pakistan’s government plans to start running international flights from Quetta airport by the 14th of August this year, according to the country’s development minister.
According to Ahsan Iqbal, who presided over a conference in Islamabad, the move will strengthen Balochistan’s ties with the Middle East, which is home to a sizable Pakistani community.
The committee was also informed that, according to the official broadcaster, PIA operates 30 flights weekly to three cities in the southwest state.
According to Radio Pakistan, the minister also ordered the opening and transfer of flight operations from the old Gwadar Airport to the new Gwadar Airport in March next year. “On Independence Day, it will be a present for the people of Balochistan,” he said.
The fourth-highest airport in Pakistan is Quetta International Airport. It is the country’s second-largest airport.
