Pakistan and Indian Armies agree to cease fire along the LoC from midnight of Feb 24.
The move comes at a time when the Indian military is largely focused on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) standoff with China in the Ladakh region, which emerged openly in May last year.
In a surprise development, Indian and Pakistani military declared on Thursday that, from midnight on February 24, they had begun enforcing a ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The development came during Thursday morning’s Military Operations Director-General (DGMO) level talks, stated a Pakistani military statement.
“Both parties agreed, with effect from midnight [on Friday], to strictly follow all arrangements, understandings and cease firings along the [Line of Control] and all other sectors.”
